Neponset River Spring Cleanup Returns April 25th — Volunteers Needed Across 8 Communities
0

The Neponset River Watershed Association (NepRWA) and a coalition of regional partners are excited to announce the return of the Annual Neponset River Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 25th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers will gather at sites in Quincy, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Milton, Mattapan, Dedham, Canton, and Norwood to remove trash and debris from parks, greenways, and riverbanks.

We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities to attend this important and fun event. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

NepRWA works to improve green spaces and water quality by removing trash and debris and supporting the overall health of the Neponset River Watershed.

Suzanne Hinton, NepRWA's Greenways Program Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator, highlights the key role that volunteers play in these efforts:

“Our volunteers form the backbone of NepRWA’s work. From cleanups to mural restoration to invasive pulls, and beyond, all our projects rely on people power. Over the last decade, volunteers have helped remove more than 50 tons of trash and debris from the Neponset Watershed through our biannual cleanups. The spring cleanup is especially inspiring because after a harsh winter, it brings together more than 200 residents, municipal staff, and partner organizations from over a dozen communities to work toward the shared goal of cleaning and protecting their mighty Neponset."

Volunteers can register at neponset.org/cleanup. You can select your preferred cleanup site during registration. All necessary equipment – trash bags, gloves, and tools – will be provided on site.
