Letters to the Editor
Why Are We Paying?
The state of Massachusetts has spent billions of dollars over the last several years assisting illegal immigrants. This includes free housing, health care, education, EBT, SNAP benefits, etc. with MA taxpayers footing the bill.
Now the state wants to add a new $5 million “immigration legal defense fund.” Not to be outdone, the Boston City Council is proposing an “immigrant emergency response fund,” both of which will continue to drain taxpayer monies. These measures will pay for the legal defense of illegal aliens facing deportation. Talk about adding insult to injury for taxpayers.
I find it outrageous that we’re being forced to expend our finances on these people who have entered the country illegally and now expect and demand that U.S. citizens subsidize all aspects of their lives. Citizens continue to face ever-increasing taxes (e.g., 13% increase in real estate bill) and Democrat-induced energy costs while the handouts just continue to rise for illegals.
Healy and Wu continue to welcome all illegals, and in fact, encourage them to come with these crazy incentives. I’m sure the citizens of MA and Boston could come up with a different method to spend that money.
Go ahead and set up these funding mechanisms but make it a voluntary donation for those interested. I’m sure the protesting neighborhood groups and the WR/Ros Progressives will be happy to donate. Just leave the rest of us out of it and the never-ending Democrat force-feeding of ways to take our money.
Sincerely,
FRANK X. O’BRIEN
