TIBBETTS

Lois Therése “Terry” (Wattendorf) Tibbetts, 76, passed away on April 14, 2026. Born at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts, on June 10, 1949, to Lois Therése and George Valentine Wattendorf. Terry grew up in Jamaica Plain and spent her summers in Scituate with siblings Celia Judge of Wayland, Victoria Wattendorf of Holland, George V. Wattendorf Jr. (Sarah) of Swampscott, the late Billy Wattendorf, Mary Sears of Naples, and Georgia Wattendorf of North Attleboro. Terry was the loving wife of the late Joseph V Tibbetts for nearly 50 years.
Terry attended Notre Dame Academy, earned her degree in art history from Georgian Court College, and later her Masters in Education from Boston College. Everyone who knew Terry recognized her sincerity, loyalty, and deep compassion. Her circle of friends grew throughout her life—no one was more inclusive or enthusiastic. A lifelong learner, she embraced new challenges and threw herself into them wholeheartedly, from taking flying lessons to organizing international golf trips, and mastering new games like mahjong and canasta.
Terry was the greatest cheerleader – her generosity and joy built community wherever she went. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate and especially loved time spent at the beach with family and friends. Her grandchildren, who called her “Tess,” knew her as a creator of one-of-a-kind adventures; with her, there was never a dull moment.
Terry will be cherished forever by her beloved children Alexandra (Roddy), Nicholas, and William; and her grandchildren, Eliza Therése and Max Joseph. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love, energy, and connection she brought into every life she touched.
Relatives & friends are respectfully and warmly invited to join Terry’s family in the celebration of her life. Visiting hours are 9:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre Street, West Roxbury. Funeral Mass is at 11:30 a.m. at St Theresa’s Church, 2078 Centre St, West Roxbury.
