QUIGLEY

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Ellen Quigley of Placitas, New Mexico, loving wife, mother and grandmother on May 10, 2026 in Albuquerque, NM after a fierce battle with aphasia and progressive dementia.
Ellen was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on July 7, 1943, to William and Mary Skehan. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Gerard and her two sons, Thomas and his wife Karen of Boulder, CO, and David and his wife Eva of Vienna, Austria. She is greatly missed by her 6 grandchildren: Elissa, Joshua, Kooper, Jonas, Maria and Paolo. She grew up in a close family in Roslindale (Boston), Massachusetts with two sisters: Nancy and Maureen, and three brothers: Bill, Jack and Richie (now deceased). Her friendship with her sister-in-law Mary Quigley was also important to Ellen.
Ellen was joyfully committed to her family and community. She graduated from Roslindale High School and UMass Boston where she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. After teaching in schools across the country from Boston to New Mexico, she spent many years at the San Juan Elementary School in Espanola, New Mexico, while living in Los Alamos. While working as a teacher, she completed a master’s degree in counseling at the University of New Mexico. She finished off her career of more than twenty years at San Juan Pueblo as the school counselor.
