Charlesview Inc. Awards over $1M in Grants
To benfit Allston/Brighton Organizations

Annual awards are given out at a breakfast to provide staffs the opportunity to get to know one another, network and potentially collaborate on new ideas and programs to address unmet needs in the community.
Speaking to the awardees Board Chair, Bill Rosenberg, continued to remind us that “money in the bank does no one any good” and likened Charlesview’s funds to” a lump of coal, that by itself doesn’t do anyone any good. However, when you put it in a furnace it generates energy and power. Now you must convert our coal/money into power that benefits the Allston/Brighton Community.”
The organizations funded provide services to all ages in Allston/Brighton and address food and hygiene insecurity, participatory arts and music, support for Immigrant families, health and nutrition classes, increased socialization opportunities for marginalized members of our community, substance use recovery support, and support for the staffs that do this very difficult work each and every day.
Etta Anderson, chair of the Community Fund sub-committee remarked “It is heartening to see so many community organizations come together - people who with compassion and wisdom develop varieties of programs to help people capture and experience the richness and wonder of being human beings. They are making Allston-Brighton a special and vibrant neighborhood.
The fund, established in 2013, was the brainchild of Charlesview’s current Board Chairman, Dr. William Rosenberg and named in memory of a founding board director, Rabbi Abraham Halbfinger. Through the fund, Charlesview, Inc. aims to strengthen, deepen and grow the many existing resources and life-enriching relationships to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential
Over the last 13 years, Charlesview Inc. has distributed nearly $4.2M through the annual grant process and an additional $1.1M for COVID, emergency services, and organizational support to organizations in Allston/Brighton.
